- Account Information: When you register, we store your username and securely hash your password. We also track your subscription tier (e.g., Free, Pro, Premium).
- Usage Metrics: We track the aggregate number of characters you translate per month to enforce subscription quotas.
- Website Data & Chrome Extension: When you use our Chrome Extension or Web Proxy, we extract the text of the webpage you are currently viewing. This text is processed in real-time and is NOT permanently stored in our databases. We do not passively track your browsing history or monitor tabs where the extension is not actively triggered by you.
3. How We Use Your Information
Your data is strictly used to operate the Language Master service:
- To authenticate your account and verify your subscription status across the website and the Chrome Extension.
- To process text for translation and text-to-speech audio generation.
- To prevent abuse, fraud, and unauthorized API usage.
4. Third-Party Services & APIs
To provide highly accurate translations, we utilize the DeepL™ API. When you request a translation (via the website or extension):
- The specific text extracted from your active webpage is securely transmitted to DeepL's servers for translation.
- DeepL processes this text according to their strict privacy standards. We only use DeepL's official API, which strictly prohibits the use of submitted text to train their public machine learning models.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or browsing habits to any third-party advertisers.
5. Cookies and Local Storage
We use secure, first-party session cookies to keep you logged in. When you log into LanguageMaster.org, an authentication cookie is placed in your browser. Our Chrome Extension reads this specific session cookie to verify your paid subscription status before processing translations. We do not use third-party tracking or advertising cookies.
6. Chrome Web Store Disclosures
To comply with Google Chrome's Developer Program Policies, we explicitly disclose that our extension requires the following permissions for core functionality only:
- activeTab & scripting: Used exclusively to read the text of the webpage you choose to translate, and to highlight sentences as they are spoken.
- host_permissions: Used to securely connect your browser to our API and pass your subscription credentials.
7. Data Deletion
You have the right to request the deletion of your account and associated data at any time. To do so, please contact us or use the account deletion tools provided in your dashboard. Upon deletion, your username, password, and usage metrics will be permanently erased from our servers.
