Reflexive Pronouns

What are reflexive pronouns and how are they used?

Reflexive pronouns refer back to the subject of the sentence. They are used with reflexive verbs.

Accusative: mich, dich, sich, uns, euch, sich

Dative: mir, dir, sich, uns, euch, sich

Rule If the verb takes an accusative object, the reflexive pronoun is accusative. If the verb takes a dative object (and the reflexive pronoun is the indirect object), it's dative.

Example

Ich wasche mich. (I wash myself - accusative)

Ich ziehe mir einen Pullover an. (I put a sweater on myself - dative, einen Pullover is the accusative object)
